Author interview!

Hello sweet book loves! I am so honored to be doing an interview with…*drum roll*… LeeAnna Neece, author of A Captive Heart. Please, LeeAnna, tell us somethings about yourself!

LeeAnna Neece: Not much to really tell, I am wife, a mother, and a grandmother. I love writing, have articles posted online under my first name Arlie Neece. I play billiards, spending time with my friends and family, love traveling, and riding with my husband on his Harley Davidson. I am a member of NAPW, an animal lover, and I believe that everything happens for a reason.

Me: What is your book A Captive Heart about?

LeeAnna Neece: My book is about a group of pirates that have been on the up and up trying their best not to be pirates. When one night a man from their past shows up. Now they are back to their old ways to get revenge. However along the way they have to take care of a young lady and her three brothers. That causes problems for the captain and he is fighting his feelings for the young lady, while everyone on his crew along with her fight to make him realize his feelings.

Me: When and why did you begin writing?

LeeAnna Neece:I begin playing around writing along time ago. I found it was a great way to let myself go from everyday life.

Me: Which writers inspire you?
LeeAnna Neece: As far as writers who inspired me, I really can’t say. I love reading as much as I do writing. I have no favorite authors, to me its more about the book itself and how it touches me not so much the author who wrote it.

Me: Who is your favorite character from your book and why?

LeeAnna Neece: That would be Breanna, I called her Bre through alot of it. She reminds me of the free hearted person I want to be.

Me: What inspired you to write your first book?

LeeAnna Neece: Well it came to me in a dream, so I got up that night while it was still fresh and begin writing it.

Me: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

LeeAnna Neece: I learned alot from writing this book, one is the most important thing to me, and that was the support my husband gave me while I was writing this. He was always there to help me if I got stuck, to run ideas by, and to keep me on track when I wanted to just give up.

Me: What was the hardest thing about writing your latest book?

LeeAnna Neece: I would say time is the hardest thing. When I wrote this series I did it in outline form, now that the first part has been published its finding time to get the next one into chapter form.

Me: Do you proofread/edit all your books or do you get someone to do that for you?

LeeAnna Neece: I did proof it some, had my husband and a friend to help, but I also paid the publishing company to proof it too, can’t never be too sure

Me: Can you tell us about your publishing journey?

LeeAnna Neece: After years of trying to get it published, I was excited when they wanted my book. I have rewrote and resubmitted my book so many times and would get told too harsh, not enough sex, not a right fit for them, all kinds of things. I had done gave up when my husband told me to try this company he seen them on TV. So I did, expecting to get the same response, I really was in shock for weeks when they said they wanted my book. Think in some part I’m still in shock.

Me: Do you have any advice for young writers?

LeeAnna Neece: My advise for future writers, don’t give up. There might be tons of rejections, and people telling you that it’s stupid idea or you’re hopeless for doing this, but you’re not. This is your dream not theirs so they will never understand. Someone out there will see your true self and will want to publish your work. So never give up on your dream or yourself.

Thank you so much for doing this interview!
